The 2011 NFL regular season ended with a bang with some great finishes and superb drama on Sunday. Records were set by a back-up QB, a team captain was benched for “quitting” and a fat-handed QB lost missed out on the post-season. The Final Drive must begin!

Christmas Eve or not, there’s no way I’d let a schedule of great NFL action slip past my nets! The playoff positioning is settling in, but there’s some unresolved business in the NFC East with two pivotal games on Saturday. There’s plenty to talk about in week 16, so let’s get right to it!

I’m not sure what else you could have wanted from week 15 in the NFL. Two impressive streaks ended, the “Trap of the Week” proved to be true once again and one win never mattered as much as it did for Indianapolis. (And Candlestick Park was sans light… for a few second before auxiliary lighting come on. Not as much drama.) Many a-loser won on this day. Oddsmakers be damned! Get ready for The Final Drive!

Going Forward
I think there is a general consensus in the football world that the Dallas Cowboys are in a heap of trouble. For two consecutive weeks the 'Boys have had an opportunity to distance themselves away from the NFC East pack after taking the division lead during a four game win streak. But for the last two weeks the Cowboys have gotten out coached and out hustled by the Arizona Cardinals, and then they let the New York Giants ring the door bell, break into their house, and steal their division. To make matters worse, of the Cowboys 6 losses they had ample opportunity to win every game except the "Imma piss on you like R. Kelly" Eagles game (I'll have to tell you about that one day). But as a famous former Cowboys coach once said, "You are who you are," and these are the Cowboys. They always have the talent compete and with Tony Romo at quarterback, but sometimes they find the most perplexing ways to lose games

1. It took until his fourth season, but CB Antwaun Molden had his first career interception on a deep pass intended for WR DeSean Jackson.
2. A round of applause to WR Tiquan Underwood for his impeccable Chad Ochocinco impersonation. He was on the field for two plays, was thrown to deep on one, dropped a probable touchdown, and then exited stage left.

I hope you got your fill of exciting and meaningful football on Thanksgiving, because there is a slew of pure crap on the early NFL schedule for week 12. How does Kyle Arrington do it?
Have you ever watched Arrington closely? He looks like an average cornerback. Nothing about him stands out. He stands only 5-10. His arms look ripped, but you wouldn’t say he’s above-average athletically. He doesn’t excel in press coverage. Heck, it doesn’t look like Arrington excels at any particular coverage skill.

The Chicago Bears (5-3) climbed back into the discussion of wild-card entry with their plucky win over the Philadelphia Eagles on MNF. Now, the Bears, who are hot, need to beat Detriot at home this Sunday. The Bears need another solid effort. Getting a win in the NFL is hard and when it comes, so satisfying. The Chicago Bears won 31-26 over the Michael Vick led Philadelphia Eagles and served notice that they are better than decent team. For me, that's saying alot. Fullbacks rarely have moments to shine. If one is lucky, they have a signature play to be remembered by.
Think back to 1994. It’s week 11, a home game against the Minnesota Vikings. QB Drew Bledsoe’s coming out party. After falling behind 20-0, Bledsoe rallied the Pats in the second half to tie the game at 20 before leading an overtime drive that ended with a 14-yard game-winning touchdown.

Let's face it; if you're a Browns' fan, you already know that we have many needs. Our new GM, Tom Heckert likes to build through the draft, and we have 11 picks but is that enough? Probably not. We need some free agents to fill some holes, or we could also trade for players.

The Cowboys have a huge match-up this week against the #2 seed Minnesota Vikings. But, I don’t think that will keep any Cowboys fan from relishing in what has transpired over the last month. Over these last 4 weeks the Cowboys have exercised all of their “demons” and now simply have to go into the Metrodome and take on the 12-4 Minnesota Vikings led by Brett Favre to advance to the NFC championsip. Piece of cake, right? Well before we stuff ourselves, let’s digest the last month of the season and see what the Cowboys were able to stomach (pun intended).

The Dallas Cowboys have pulled off their first playoff win in years. Tony Romo is now 1-2 in the playoffs, and Wade Phillips finally has won one himself. Phillips and Romo had been known as "choke artists" in the past years, Romo fumbling a kicker hold against the Seattle Seahawks and throwing an interception late against the New York Giants.

Proving that their shut-out win last week was no fluke, the Dallas Cowboys picked up right where they left off with a 34-14 blowout win over the Philadelphia Eagles Saturday night. The Dallas Cowboys have entered their December swoon, and yet I'm not worried. The defense couldn't contain the pass. The offense couldn't punch it in from the one yard line. And off we go to New Orleans, a team that will pass all over you, that will stuff you at the line.

To this point of the season the Cowboys have taken care of business, for the most part. The Cowboys could very easily be 9-1 had they just maintained their composure against the likes of the New York Giants and Denver Broncos. But instead of dwelling on what could have been, the ‘Boys did a good job of moving on as they went on to win 6 of their next 7 games and claim 1st place in the NFC east. Unfortunately, none of that matters now. The Cowboys are 8-3 with the Philadelphia Eagles in a close trail at 7-4, and the Giants still kicking at 6-5. And being that the final five games of this season are in the dreaded month of December, the phrase “anything can happen” is an understatement.

Well, it wasn't a barrage of Jay Cutler interceptions that led to Chicago's loss to Philadelphia at Soldier Field Sunday night. Instead of tossing red zone picks, Cutler played smart and checked down to his receivers, setting up four Robbie Gould field goals. Thing about field goals is, a touchdown's better than two of them. That simple math led to the demise of Lovie Smith's team and the deflation of their playoff hopes as they fall to 4-6.

Observations from Sunday:
- Jason Garrett tried to prove a point and the Cowboys almost lost the game because of it.
Garrett came under fire for only running the ball 11 times all of last week, so he decided to double that total in the first half on Sunday. That approach was somewhat understandable as the Cowboys got a pretty good push against a Haynesworth-less front four, but they should have mixed it up much more. The Cowboys play best when they are spreading the ball around to all of their playmakers. The wide-receivers didn’t even catch a ball until the 4th quarter, and Roy Williams didn’t register a single stat. Which brings me to my next point?

The Chicago Bears are losers of four of their last five contests. Their three primetime games this season have all resulted in losses, two of which were especially rich in turnovers. Monday Morning Moneyball: Week 2- Big Apple Stars Are Born!
Welcome to Monday Morning Moneyball! Week 2 provided us with two New York tales of triumph that not only bucked old trends, but also may have unveiled the dawn of a new quarterback era in green and wide receiver tandem in blue. We start with the J-E-T-S, JETS JETS JETS! All week, media outlets all over the country have been replaying Rex Ryan’s message to the Jets season ticket holders. 70 seconds of fanfare and propaganda from Ryan begged for support over and beyond the norm from the Jets faithful, and his message was reiterated by Kerry Rhodes and several other Jets players, and the message was simple: We can beat the Patriots. That they did, 16-9, showing off their Baltimore style dominant defense that Ryan has brought over from the Raven dynasty. While I’ll delve into New England’s deficiencies in my Money Bites below, praise needs to be given to Mark Sanchez for his 2nd consecutive strong performance. While his numbers weren’t gaudy (14 of 22, 163 yards with 1 TD, 0 Int), his 101.1 passer rating is indicative of his efficient performance. Sanchez did everything Ryan and the Jets could ask of him in his rookie season. He stayed away from risky unnecessary throws, threw for a 65% completion percentage in the second half and executed on big plays down the stretch, including the go-ahead touchdown strike to Dustin Keller. Watch out young QB society, Tom Brady, and everyone else in the AFC, if Sanchez keeps up this act, the Jets will be a team to be reckoned with come January.

I was a decent 3-1 last week. Called the Games straight Up and where to take the points. My only lost was the Upset special. Which seems not so special for week 1. The Colts help on for the win, Yet like I said did not cover the spread. The Saints went marching in to the season with 6 touchdowns from Brees. It is the time of the year where we bid adieu to our Sunday trips to the local outlet malls and Bed, Bath and Beyond. Where, as men, we stop our tofu and salad diets in the name of our loved ones who are repulsed by our manly guts, and turn the grill up to happiness. No more flavored waters, playing cards with the in-laws or going to the zoo with your kids- no, my fellow men, it is Football season. It is the dawning of imported German sausage links, cheap-hardcore domestic manly beers (ok, maybe Light beers, let's be honest, we are a little fat), and the most destructive hard hitting American game filling our heads with fantasy stats, eye-popping hits, and hope for a glorious triumph.

Peanut Butter and Jelly, Woodward and Bernstein and Batman and Robin are all synonymous with good pairings. Unfortunately, the coupling of Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles may be synonymous with nails on a chalkboard.

I was thoroughly enjoying watching the Eagles game yesterday. I was wearing my greens, getting excited despite all the usual preseason mistakes and areas of concern. I had a can of Lager in one hand and the remote in the other, occasionally flipping over to the Steelers/Cardinals game on commercial breaks.

I know this is not 49ers news but, of course everyone is aware that Michael Vick has signed a 2 year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. This is really good news to me because regardless of what he did, he deserved to be given this chance to complete his NFL career.

A man was beaten to death in a savage and needless fracas that occurred outside of Citizen’s Bank Park in the final innings of the Philadelphia Phillies 14-6 home win versus the St. Louis Cardinals Saturday night.

Donte Stallworth just plead guilty to DUI manslaughter. It makes you wonder. He seemed to be doing well when he was playing for the Philadelphia Eagles but now that he is playing for the Browns it seems things have gone downhill. Although he did have that one incident while in Philly he seemed like a stand up guy. He got 30 days in jail, 1000 hours community service, his driver’s license suspended for life and has been suspended from the NFL indefinitely. Granted he was facing 15 years in jail so I guess it could have been worse. Either way the incident begs the question how did we get in this situation and could anything have been done to prevent it?

The NFL draft came and went and with it came new optimism for the Eagles and their faithful. After making several stellar moves leading up to the draft and during it, the Eagles have now placed themselves as favorites to win the NFC East and maybe the conference as a whole.

How often have you done something over and over until it becomes reflexive? Has that action ever become so repetitive that you lose track of what you’re doing while repeating this task?

It seems to be common among fans to complain about the team quarterback. No matter how well the quaterback does there will always be someone to say he could do better, there will always be someone yelling we need a new one and there will always be someone who forgets just how bad things were before McNabb became a fulltime, pro bowl, possible Hall of Fame quarterback.

By now we've all heard the story and probably seen the video. Houston Texans running back Ryan Moats was driving his family to the Baylor Regional Medical Center in the Dallas Suburb of Plano, to make it to see his mother-in-law as she was in critical condition. She was suffering from breast cancer, and they had been told she didn't have much time. Moats put on his hazards, and by his account rolled through a red light after making sure the way was clear. Officer Robert Powell was parked nearby and attempted to pull him over. Moats continued to drive a short distance to the hospital, as Powell pursued. As he pulled up near the entrance of the hospital, the family jumped out of the car. Officer Powell instructed them to get back in the car, but Moats wife Tamishia and another family member ran inside. Ryan Moats tried explaining the situation to Officer Powell, who over the course of the next thirteen minutes would not listen, and herein lies the controversy.

Well it looks like it will be slow on Eagles talk while the owners meetings are going on.
The Eagles brass is not home to work and they have a history of not doing any team business at these meetings.

So…yesterday the team addressed a glaring hole in the back field of this west coast offence….they signed a real full back.
Fullback Leonard Weaver has agreed to a one-year contract with Philadelphia, giving the Eagles a much-needed blocker in the backfield.
