Roy Williams

13 July 2009

I have a lot of faith in Roy Williams, but I feel that its with the other receivers that we will have the most success.  If Roy can become the possession receiver that Michael Irvin was, then we will have a great season.  If not, we will need the emergence of one of the younger receivers, otherwise JJ will go shoppin', and we really can't afford another trade like the one we gave up for Roy.

Week 3 Steelers at Bengals

Bengals have made some noise this off season picking players like Roy Williams, Andre Smith, Laveranues Coles and Ray Maualuga.  Carson Palmer should be healthy and in shape by the time this game rolls around.  While all this is good, the problem with the Bengals has never been a lack of talent, rather a lack of discipline.  The fact that they will be featured on this year's Hard Knocks is no help to this problem.  Coach Marvin Lewis has proven of the years that he doesn't have what it takes to lead men.  I'll give the Steelers 9/10.

a1dc:  Samuel, you are correct!  The Cowboys sent a 1st and 3rd round pick to Detroit for Roy Williams.  The thought was that an accomplished receiver, like Williams, would be be

s guy?  Oh yeah…bye-bye!

The Cowboys traded a 1st and 3rd round pick for Roy Williams.  They re-worked his contract so that he is averaging roughly 9 Million per season.  Williams had 19 receptions for 198 yards and 1 TD in 10 games.  Jerry better hope that in the off-season Romo and Williams start designing some secret plays to get him involved!

Each week I will answer questions submitted by my loyal readers.  I personally read every single email I receive.  I will pick out the best five or so to use for the weekly post, as I won’t be able to answer all of them.  I will also answer one or two questions on my daily posts as well.  Now it’s time to open the mail!

't matter who the quarterback was, he was going to put up an average game.  On the other side, Roy Williams put up similiar numbers as TO, but most of his receptions came off of drive saving first downs.  In such a short time,

2. Roy Williams (DAL)—Once he gets the playbook down and Romo returns to the lineup, look out!

The offense was out of sync all day.  Owens was more involved than he has been lately, while Roy Williams caught his first TD as a Cowboy.  Barber gutted out some tough yards as well.  When Witten was injured (ribs)…doom was near.  Surely the efforts on defense would go to waste.  The offense was sputtering with no imagination on the horizon.  The defense was playing lights out…holding the Bucs to field goals…bend but don’t break!

improve the defense significantly and at the right time!

3.  Newly acquired WR Roy Williams will be more acquainted with the playbook as the season goes forward.  Williams will be explosive in this offense once he learns the system and Romo returns to action!

Burn baby Burn.

They say in any major fire, walk don’t run to the nearest exists.  So when every major sports media chain declares panic in Big D, only the fair-weather fans will run.  Is there reason to panic?  Oh yes, yes there is.  Am I going to run out of the building with my hair on fire?  Hell no.  I want you to know Nation, that I sat through that whole game, second by painful second, experiencing in disbelieve as I’m sure all Cowboy fans did, the absolute horror so close to Halloween.  No, I won’t run, I will stand by this horrid affair, but I’ll tell you what I want Nation.

nd the Pacman Jones suspension…Jerry had to do something!  He did…he acquired WR Roy Williams from the Detroit Lions (read more here).  Roy’s first game with his new team is one he would sure like to forget!  But how much of the offense could he learn in a couple of days?  Apparently, not enough!  He was held in check with no receptions.  Owens didn’t fair much better as he had two catches and he’s been with the team for three years!

I wouldn't be surprised if new addition Roy Williams gets in the mix early with a touchdown reception or a few big receptions. Rams aren't the greatest team either. The Redskins last week had several turnovers giving the Rams the score or good field postion. Turnovers kill good teams as well. I pick the Cowboys in this one.

ins last week.  Dallas has had an eventful week…to say the least.  The addition of Roy Williams should bolster the offense.  Will Romo play?  Who knows?  It doesn’t matter as the ‘Boys, in a statement game, will put a hurting on the Rams.  Look for

efore the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday afternoon, Jerry Jones pulled off a blockbuster deal for WR Roy Williams of the Detroit Lions.  Yes, I said “blockbuster”!  Keep in mind that trades are very rare in the NFL…especially at the trade deadline!  The Cowboys gave Detroit a 1st, a 3rd, and a 6th round draft choice.  In return the Cowboys received

Short Shots:

The Dallas Cowboys acquired WR Roy Williams from the Lions for a 1st and a 3rd round draft choice.  The Lions will also get the Cowboys 6th rounder and the Cowboys will get Detroit’s 7th rounder.  Jerry Jones…you risk taker you!

It really happened. The Detroit Lions did something smart. The trade of Roy Williams has got to bring some hope to the historically horrific franchise-not because Roy can't play, but because the Lions have just turned one first round pick(
