A Weak Week 

Don’t worry Eagles fans, the Birds can still make the playoffs. Let’s hope this group can channel some of the Phillies playoff energy heading into their next couple games. After falling at the hands of the bearded wonder that is Kyle Orton, they’ll need some sort of boost.

 

This wasn’t a gut-punch game as much as it was a look at the dark side an inherently flawed Eagles’ team. One week you’re systematically dismantling the Steelers and making Big Ben look like Steve McNair while the next week Kyle Orton is tearing through your defense like Johnny Moxon. If this season is going to be this frustrating tell me now so I can place an e-bay bid on a new set of nerves by Christmas.

 

Losing out of the division hurts the most because of how tough the NFC East is this year, especially with feisty Washington coming to town next week. A few points that may or may not be on everyone’s mind after Phila handed one to the Bears:

Soldier Field Showdown
Kevin Kolb and Kyle Orton. Correll Buckhalter and Matt Forte. Brandon Lloyd and Hank Baskett. This is the NFL on NBC! Sorry if this tagline has me completely underwhelmed and reminds me why I don't watch preseason football. Since this is essentially Philadelphia's game to lose, let's move to something my buddy Giang (Cowboys fan) thinks about his group of frontrunners. Apparently, Miles Austin deserves a nickname and he thinks "Marlboro" Miles Austin is fitting cause he "smokes D-backs." The verdict is still out on that since we both agree that he's Dallas' version of Greg Lewis. Trying to match his wit, I could only muster "The Candidate" for L.J. Smith cause he shows up every four years to get paid and to try and convince me he's the man for the job. So far I'm not buying what he's selling.
