Now get me wrong, I am still very happy and very excited about the Philiies taking care of the Brew Crew and moving on to play LA in the NLCS. However, I am weary about their offense. Utley and Howard are both hitting under .200 and I don't even want to count how many men left on base there were this series. I have never been a big believer that the Phils rely on the long ball to score runs. These past four games, though, are starting to prove those critics correct. And just by looking at this season we know what happens when those long balls turn into long outs. The Marlins were a young, strong, talented team but could not string the hits together. They relied far too much on home runs and ultimately was their demise. Also, the Brewers are a powerful young team known to hit a lot of home runs. Luckily for the Phils, they lacked in the power department. The Phillies need to play small ball when they can. They can't always rely on the two out HRs.

Game 1 is tonight. Can the Phillies come in too confident? Can Cole Hamels inability to pitch in the day time and big games be a factor?

What do you think? I am guessing no. He is a stud and will lead us to the promise land! Too cliche? Oh well, it is too early for sensibility.

KC Out

By the time the game was over I was reaching for my anti-anxiety medicine that I do not own and do not take. So yeah, the Sunday night game between the Eagles and Bears stressed me out a bit. It seemed at times that McNabb could pull it off and then sometimes he looked completely clueless. I just don't understand how the Cowboys have Barber and Jones, the Jaguars have Jones-Drew and Taylor, but when Westbrook goes down, the Eagles are out of luck. How come so many teams are drafting young running back studs and the Eagles are not. Yes, they got lucky with Westbrook coming out of Villanova but that is not going to happen all the time. The Eagles need to step up take a top rated RB in next years draft. And at this point their pick might be higher than the one given to us by Carolina from last year.

Continue reading "Wow a clash of the defenses"

Another great start from the young lefty Cole Hamels tonight against the red hot Nationals. That puts the Phils only a game and a half back of the Mets. Any glancing at the scores, Milwaukee dropped 4 in their half of the fourth to tie at 5. Now this essentially a win-win situation for the Phils. Either way they gain a game. I would much rather prefer it be in the race for the East, but beggers can not be choosers. Tomorrow's rubber game should be a good momentum pusher going into the weekend series at Shea.

This is the first one. Now, with that said, it does not mean there will be a second one. But there was a first. Every streak must come to an end. This one, however, seems one of ageless wonder. I am no different than anyone else. I am a normal guy. I will tell you blogging saves my life. Nor will I tell you blogging will change the world or cure cancer. It is a thing I do. And hopefully something I will do well.

Right now it is a little over 48 hours away from the opening kick-off of this 2008 NFL season. And right now the Eagles are undefeated!! A slimmer of a chance to stay that way still weighs heavily on my mind. However, as of right now they have not loss. So I have nothing to cry about right? One would think so. But that one somebody was not involved in my fantasy football live draft last night. I mean if you are going to play fantasy football you need to leave your emotions in the kitchen. You should leave team alliances to your catchy sign on name, or your intimidating team tag. Once the picking starts, you have to go with the numbers. I dont care how much you love Seattle and every year you send Matt Hasselback's wife, that chick on The View, flowers on her birthday. Do not, I repeat, do not pick him with your second overall pick. Just madness.

Continue reading "The streak has to start somewhere"
