First off, just a little information about myself. My name is Justin and I have been an Philadelphia Sports fan since I was a kid some 15 years old when I was watching the 1993 Phillies blow a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the ninth only to lose to a Joe Carter Home Run. That was one of my first memories with Philly Sports.
Today in the year 2008, I'm 24 years old and I witnessed one championship and that happened just 23 days ago when my fighting Phillies took care of the Rays in five games to win the World Series for the first time since before I was born in 1980. It was an amanzing feeling to watch the team you have been rooting for since you were a kid to finally put it all together and win a championship.
Now I have lived in North Carolina for 3 years now and I wasn't able to make the parade because I work in media relations for Western Carolina University but watching it live on TV was almost just as good seeing all the fans cheering and kids not knowing how important an event they are witnessing. World Series Championships don't happen everyday and they will always have a story to tell their kids about when they were at the parade when the Phillies broke the curse in Philadelphia.
Today is just another NFL sunday but is it? The Eagles are currently 5-4-1, yes that is not a typo, they tied last week because of old faithful #5 Donovan McNabb having his worst game in a long time throwing the ball over fifty times, fumbling once, throwing three INT's. That type of play from your starting Quarterback isn't going to get you to the playoffs this season. The defense on the other hand is Championship caliber holding the Bengals to 13 points through five quarters of football.
What has the Eagles Defense done this season? Well they are tied for the league lead in sacks with the Steelers with 36 sacks, which is five more then the defending Super Bowl Champs the Giants. They also barely allow 50 yards rushing a game thanks to the emergence of the young linebacking core of Bradley, Gocong, and Gaither. Those three are incredible, each bringing different elements to the position and have made a huge difference this season with the Eagles Defense.
Now with the Ravens and Eagles close to Kick-Off, Which Eagles team will show up? the McNabb from the Cowboys game on monday when he put up over thirty points? or will we see the McNabb from the last three weeks showing that he could be seeing his last days in Philly green.
Eagles need to run the football and with Westbrook being questionable it could be a heavy dose of Buckhalter...If the Eagles can hold the Ravens to under 20 points, hopefully their offense gets it together today and brings home a HUGE road victory and in my opinion a Must-Win Game.
Prediction: Eagles 24 Ravens 17
