So what are the Eagles plans for the Offensive line? Did they actually plan to allow both veteran tackles go without a back up plan?
OK…so they have filled one position, but what about the other? There have been rumors that they might move Shawn Andrews over. That would be a mistake. You can not count on someone coming back from the “problems” he had. The best bet is to leave him there and hope he comes back and plays to the best of his ability in a position he is comfortable in and then think about moving him next year.
That would leave you with the option of filling the void with a veteran for one year and maybe drafting someone. Obviously none of their previous draft picks were able to beat out the 2 players that they are letting go, so the team needs to look elsewhere.
There is not many quality tackles left out there. The term “Slim pickings” is an understatement.
The fact is, the Eagles need to have an offensive line that can not only pass block, but run block, so that at least they have the option to shove the ball down the opponent’s throat like a real NFC East team. When the passing game gets shut down they can take the game over, run the clock and grind the ball impressively.
This brings us to another problem spot….running back…we will address this tomorrow.
Now go have a good day and make your plans to watch NOVA beat UCLA tomorrow!!
Later!!
